Tatra trams run through Berlin for the last time

The old trams - model Tatra - are disappearing from the Berlin cityscape. Because they are not barrier-free, new vehicles are used. However, the rejected trains are allowed to continue elsewhere.

On Friday, Tatra trams run through Berlin for the last time. You should be on the M6 ​​and M8 lines in the east of the city. This was announced by the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG).

The railways are not barrier-free and are therefore being sorted out by the transport companies. They were first delivered to Berlin from the Tatra factory in the Czech Republic in 1976. Now the railways are disappearing from the Berlin cityscape.
Old tatras are still used
The BVG has announced that it will celebrate another big farewell this year. The date is not yet known. The Tatra Railways, which are still in Berlin and named after the highest mountains in what was then Czechoslovakia, are to go to Ukraine.

The last ride of the railways was actually planned for February 12th. As a result of the corona pandemic, however, additional capacities had to be created in order to equalize the number of passengers. Therefore, the Tatra trams were in use even longer. They also still operate in Potsdam and Brandenburg an der Havel.
